Renowned theoretical physicist or not, there is nothing that tells us this is an inhabited spacecraft with aggressive intentions.
Going to meet it might just turn a peaceful mission into an aggressive one.
If we could catch it, a probe could hitch a ride on it. But then we wouldn’t need to catch it.
