Some years ago we went to a town in New Zealand called Rotorua (? spelling). It's so volcanically active that the whole town smells like rotten eggs and everywhere you look you see pools of boiling water.

But the upside for the residents is that they don't have to pay for heat...their houses are hooked up to underground heat.

I went to Rotorua on a familiarization trip with a group of travel agents back in the ‘90s.
I remember there were little steam vents all over the place, even next to the road.
We stayed at the Sheraton and the hotel had a grotto on the ground floor with a hot spring pool for guests.
We had a great time soaking in it.
