Sauce for the gander: Jack Smith gets a special counsel of his very own

Sure, the election is over. But Sen. Tom Cotton would like a few loose ends tied up.

According to the New York Post:

The Office of Special Counsel has launched a formal investigation into Jack Smith, the first official legal probe into his conduct, The Post has learned. Smith is the justice department lawyer who oversaw two criminal investigations into President Donald Trump during the Biden administration, one into Trump’s handling of classified documents, the other as to whether his actions on Jan. 6th, 2021, were an attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Both cases were dismissed. An email reviewed by The Post states The Hatch Act Unit, which enforces a law restricting government employees from engaging in political activities, has begun reviewing the former Special Counsel for the United States Department of Justice. The email was written by Senior Counsel Charles Baldis at OSC. "I appreciate the Office of Special Counsel taking this seriously and launching an investigation into Jack Smith’s conduct. No one is above the law.

Jack Smith’s actions were clearly driven to hurt President Trump’s election, and Smith should be held fully accountable,” said Senate Intelligence Committee chair Sen Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) in a statement to The Post.

Jack Smith is a partisan Democrat who weaponized the law against President Trump to help Dems win. I’ve asked the Office of Special Counsel to investigate his actions that likely violated the law to influence the election. pic.twitter.com/64v6U3Y0wH

— Tom Cotton (@SenTomCotton) July 30, 2025 After all, a lot of us voted for President Trump precisely to stop this kind of lawfare garbage. We had to get Trump elected or it would keep happening, and getting worse. Nobody else in office would have made it their priority.

And if these traitors and criminals are not prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and they ever get back in power, God have mercy on us.

Probably not as corrupt to the Jan. 6th Select Committee though. BTW, when are these people going to be investigated and face justice? Better be before the midterms or else that opportunity will be gone forever and Trump’s term will have been wasted in the same way his first term was wasted by not draining the swamp.

Smith is one of the main people in these lawfare crimes I’d like to see arrested. There’s a lot of others too. A whole lot of others.

Just like Hillary going to jail though right? Even the crimes we already know about should be enough to convict her to life in prison, yet nothing is being done. Same for Obama, Biden, Comey and Brennan/Clapper.

Hey Toad, do you really think the president has the ability to willy-nilly arrest people? We’re not living in Sadam Hussein’s Iraq you know?

No need to waste time trying to educate jr. high school kids like CodeToad here who obviously doesn’t know beans about how the US govt justice system works, let alone presidential powers.

How did the idiot Biden and his cronies somehow figure out how to prosecute a president for fake crimes? They somehow figured out how to do it and they didn’t take 10-15 years to do it. Same US Govt. justice system. To bad that very US govt. justice system is one sided.

Do you think it was Biden ordering arrests or was it the rabid cronies in the justice dept? Get yourself a little civics education, man. It would be patently illegal for a president to order anyone’s arrest.

What is your solution about the “rabid cronies in the justice department”? How can the left leaning justice department be able to prosecute the right (with no real pushback) and yet still remains immune from any threats of investigation and prosecution when the right is in charge and in majority? What is your solution to any of this? I’m well aware about civics and your accusation that I do not is insulting. Having said that I don’t think there is any sense of “justice” being able to make this right when the very institutions are corrupt to the hilt.

If any president were found to have ordered anyone arrested it would be an impeachable offense. If there were found a paper trail or any evidence of that then they could be thrown out of office on their ear after an impeachment trial in the Senate. I have no solution to an out of control justice dept. Why would you think I, or anyone else would? But everything has to go through the DOJ channels to come up with indictments, trials and convictions. That’s the only way Biden’s people could be charged. You seem to think there’s another way, there’s not. Not according to our Constitution.

Sheesh!

Seems like you have a lot of faith in the failed justice system. You keep bringing up about a president asking for arrests and I never even mentioned anything about that, but I am ok with the DOJ prosecuting the deep state with all the evidence that they have that we know about.

Ballot box isn't working out so great is it? If you aren't familiar with the Four Boxes of Liberty, a quick read would be enlightening.

"There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and cartridge (or ammo). Please use in that order."

We have used up the soap box, and we just elected Trump so we used the ballot box, and the lack of prosecutions are showing the jury box isn't working. That leaves the cartridge box as the last resort to defend the liberty of our country.

You want to go into a courtroom with the “ evidence” we have here on Freerepublic? You’ll get your ass kicked and the case will be thrown out of court.

You and I both want to see these scum locked up, but you need real hard evidence to even have a chance. That’s a fact that I guess some folks here don’t like hearing.

So when you don’t get your way you stomp your feet and take your toy and go home. Sounds like a liberal to me or a RINO at the least. We need less of people like you in MAGA. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
