When I go to see a famous band, I want to hear their famous songs. None of this “Here’s some new stuff we’ve been working on.”
Of course your mileage may vary.

Back in 2016, Don Henley appeared at the Minnesota State Fair. At the time, he was touring in support of his album “Cass County”. The album was more country-oriented and truth be told, it was OK.
At the concert, he’d say the same thing “Hey, we’re gonna do a selection from my Cass County album...” He’d get decent applause.
But when he’d start playing the opening chords from “Life In The Fast Lane”, the whole place erupted. Same with “All She Wants to Do Is Dance”.
So you want a jukebox on stage.
Rick Nelson experienced this, and after receiving boos at MSG, wrote Garden Party.
As for Freebird, I thought that was a song by Ronnie Van Zant and Lynnard Skynnard, after the plan crash.
