Be careful with English ivy. My beach neighbor planted some in his yard 30 years ago. I don’t see any left in his yard, but since I am not there constantly to keep it under control it has spread across my 70 foot wide property to the far edge where it grows up the neighbor’s fence and my trees including my tree next to the neighbor’s fence. I try to pull it off the trees, but it grows into the spaces between the bark, and is hard to remove. Sometimes it has even grown by rooting into the bark. I now hate English ivy.

Yeah, there’s so much English ivy in one area of my yard, that that’s probably what did the Tulip Poplar in that we recently took down. When it’s on the ground, it’s fine. When it grows on the trees, it weakens them.

The ivy in the potted plant is fine. It’s just an accent.
