“They want a book of our family’s recipes that my son grew up enjoying”
I did that as a Christmas gift to my children several years ago. Since I am now in my 70s, I didn’t want them to one day wake up and say “How did she do that”? A number of their favorites are from their grandmothers and therefore not findable on the internet. (I don’t care how good your pecan pie is, it won’t match Phoebe’s!)
I’m sure they both appreciated the gift and use the recipes. I know so many people who eat out or order meals in most nights of the week. I was shocked to find out how many young people don’t know how to cook either the most basic foods or the dishes they grew up with. Even if you don’t have a source for or book of family favorites, youtube will walk you through any recipe, but the latest generation of new adults doesn’t want to do the work to make meals from scratch (research, list, shop, prepare, cleanup). Good foresight, Grammy!
