These are world class politicians; they live to project power and dominance. Yet they are projecting acceptance of painful defeat. Zelensky looks bitter but resigned that his spree is over.
They are uncomfortable and subservient to President Trump.
The US has functioned as the majority of Ukraine's economy. The US pays the salaries and pensions of the Ukraine government, and many many other critical services and supplies (e.g., emergency services).
Guess who is going to have to take over for the US? Why should the US fund NATO's proxy war anymore, with Zelensky and his handlers demanding endless supplies of weapons, money and technical support?
One analyst said the 'real' reason that all the euros rushed to join Zelensky at the meeting was to ensure Trump stays in NATO. They've been attacking Russia for 3+ years and are going to be 'naked and afraid' if Trump openly leaves NATO. Then depleted Euros would be helpless at the feet of Russia's retaliation. They don't even have adequate air defenses - the US was supposed to do the fighting and defending as well as the paying and dying.
They all depend on the US for everything that matters to them, and yet they try to dictate and 'force' President Trump to do as they wish. Or else....what?
Daddy probably cut their allowance. If they get nothing else out of that meeting, they don't want Putin to know that Trump is removing support for their Ukrainian venture. They were horrified when early on, Hegseth told them that the US would not come to their defense in Ukraine (NATO's article 5, Mutual Defense). The Euros haven't maintained their militaries so it's a joke to imply there could be any 'mutual defense' on the battlefield. France makes some aircraft and weapons, but it's clear the US would take the brunt of fighting. I think the UK is said to have 2 operational battle tanks. Complete atrophy of military capacity on the part of NATO but they have the nerve to ask President Trump to promise to support article 5, mutual defense?!
In a NATO meeting held about 5 months ago (I think), a Euro asked if President Trump would confirm the US would come to their defense per NATO agreement. Trump said, "Well it depends on what you consider 'defense'" I think that meant, it doesn't include your right to conduct a proxy war in Ukraine and then just whistle for the US when Putin responds to attacks.
thankQ MqD!!!!
