When the CCP stops paying the military you will know, that they know, their days in power are numbered.
If they start slow paying the military, the military will make up for it by selling bits of military kit and requiring larger bribes from vendors to the military.
The high level of procurement corruption, at all levels, is one of the reasons that I am not very worried about an invasion of Taiwan. That and it is only really possible in April and October.

A network of a few hundred (at most) nuclear-powered orbital lasers in Low-Earth Orbit (like StarLink) will do the trick, even if they've already got hypersonic missiles hiding in higher orbits. Continental launched are much less of a problem due to longer times for target acquisition and powering up the big ray guns.
These LEO Laser guns would be on multiple orbital planes, e.g., equatorial, polar and in-betweens.
All the necessary tech already exists.
Too bad SpaceX stock is still private. They're going to be a Bigly Winner. I think this is one reason for the fake split-up between Trump and Musk. RATs will be screaming like stuck pigs when they find out about all this.
