Authorities were scouring a mountainous area of western Montana on Saturday for a military veteran who they say opened fire at a bar, killing four people.
Michael Paul Brown, 45, fled The Owl Bar in the small town of Anaconda in a white pickup truck but ditched it at some point, said Lee Johnson, administrator of the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, which is overseeing the case. He urged residents late Friday to stay at home and on high alert.
“While law enforcement has not received reports of Brown harming any other individuals, he is believed to be armed, and he is extremely dangerous,” Johnson said.
Authorities said they would release the names of the victims once all of their families have been notified.

I’ll check in but don’t really know much more than what you’ve got in your post.
Montana’s sometimes described as “a medium-sized city with a 700-mile Main Street” or “the place where people are outnumbered by the cows/deer/wild turkeys...” but between the influx of former West coast residents fleeing the political mess they created for someplace to make a worse mess and the sorry excuses for journalism/TV news we’ve been plagued with for generations now I wonder if/how long it would take for news of a nuclear attack on Eastern Montana to even rate mention in Missoula.
And exactly the same applies in reverse to this shooting out West in Anaconda.
Don’t even have to check on home defense in case that shooter comes around The Homestead. There’s ALWAYS loaded guns around the place and a 40-mile batch of similarly-prepared households between us and the Interstate.
If somebody is fleeing the law I’ve gotta think that Eastern Montana is one of the absolute worst places on the planet to take that trip. When 911 response times are measured in hours folks tend to take care of things and let the authorities just fill out their paperwork and take away the roadkill.

OK, so a guy walks into a bar in Montana. Shoots four people. Why is it necessary for the official numbnuts to say the shooter might be armed? Double talk must be taught in the public genius schools now? I suppose they could say he shot four rounds and might have 15 left? They could also say he might be pixxed at more than four people and anybody that owes him money should lay low?
