Re: Your Grandma’s Salve
My husband recently asked me to order “The Lost Ways” (someone suggested he get it) which I did and while in Amazon “The Lost Him of Herbal Remedies” was suggested so I got them both. At the back of the Herbal Remedies there is a section of Household Remedies which has many uses and some recipes. They do not name Icthycanth but it sounds and is described like activated charcoal. I don’t see anything about sulfur but there are some remedies with ginger, cayenne pepper, mixed with a carrier oil.
There is a section of Potassium Permanganate which is a chemical compound with medicinal use for cleaning of wounds, treating skin conditions, and disinfecting water. This is an aggressive oxidizer and will start fires when in contact with suitable materials.
Sounds like some of these household ingredients are included in your Granny’s salve from the descriptions of the uses in this book. It’s by Nicole Apelian, Ph.D and Claude Davis.
