Interesting read. Some aspects of those times can be discerned by the film Doctor Zhivago, the cry that 'the personal life is dead.'
The character Pavel "Pasha" Antipov / Strelnikov... as Antipov he displayed the more moral approach, probably modeled after the Mensheviks, later portrayed as Strelnikov, a ruthless military conqueror, in line with the Bolshevik view. After the revolution had mostly succeeded and the fighting diminished, Strelnikov reverted to Antipov and tried to return to his family at Yuriatin (Siberia).
Bolshevik secret police were watching Antipov's wife, waiting to capture and execute him. The Bolsheviks had no desire to share power with 'factions', totally rejecting 'Strelnikov's' military contribution towards the recent victory.
The 'personal life' was dead.
