As a fan of gardens of all kinds, I admire your efforts. If things get worse with the drought, you might consider drip or soaker hose. It’s a flat hose that you place at the roots of plants, and it weeps water slowly, soaking the ground. Little moisture is lost through evaporation. We have used this with excellent results.
Oh that’s a good idea. I’m sure I’ve seen the soaker hoses at my hardware store. Thank you!

Excellent thought!
There are multiple 1/4” drip products available including drip heads (1/2, 1 and 2 GPH) that attach to 1/4” hose that can be run for 100’s of feet as well as 1/4” drip tubing...
We irrigate about 20 pots twice a day with drip heads and have for 15 years (at least). I also irrigate 40+ new Dougls Fir trees with drip heads in the field.
My favorite source:
These are controlled from a hose bib with Orbit multiple B-hyve controllers:
Saves a massive amount of time!
Also you can attach a timer to your sprinkler to allow you more freedom.
Best!
