As a fan of gardens of all kinds, I admire your efforts. If things get worse with the drought, you might consider drip or soaker hose. It’s a flat hose that you place at the roots of plants, and it weeps water slowly, soaking the ground. Little moisture is lost through evaporation. We have used this with excellent results.
