I know a weekend type of thread, flame away.
(”Me and You and a dog named Boo”,)
I liked the song when it was released. Still do.
“I’d Love You to Want Me”
Another excellent song
I always thought Bobby Goldsboro wrote/performed that song.
I guess not.
I figured that (Boo) was his follow up to his big hit called ‘Honey’. If you were around then, you will remember that song, whether you want to or not.
The ‘Main Man’ is the last Zarnian, greased his planet because they it and his people were lame. Been kicking ass through the Galaxy as a bounty hunter ever since.
"Charming"?? Maybe the first time you heard it, but after the 500th time you wanted to puke your guts out and smash your radio and stereo.
Another big hit of his that no one's mentioned yet that is one of my favorites is, "Don't Expect Me To Be Your Friend".
“Rings”, not his biggest hit (by far) is still my favorite Lobo recording.
I’ll have to check it out
My favorite of his was “Don’t Expect Me To Be Your Friend”. Let’s just say it hit home and was good advice to a young man.

Tompall Glaser & The Glaser Brothers Had a hit on the Country charts #7 1971
My favorite of his also.
“Honey” is one of the few songs that will make me change the channel. Sappy tearjerker not only was a #1 hit but the biggest selling record in the world in 1968. Go figure.

Summer, the First Time is a guy’s song I’d say
You’re right. “Me and You and a dog named Boo” was a gentle expression of freedom.
I think the dog was innocent. But in a moment of weakness, the other two were caught robbing an old hen.
Old MacDonald, he made us work
But then he paid us for what it was worth
Even that was gentle. The farmer turned out to be a nice guy.
“I’d Love You to Want Me” is one of his songs I like, if I can ignore the line: “I felt the blood go to my feet.” He originally wanted The Hollies to record that song; they said they would if he changed that line. He refused and did the song himself.
Remember the song “Watching Scotty Grow” ? Pure schlock.
I heard that the song honey was more effective than waterboarding prisoners to get information out of them.
