That turned out to be fake news. They weren't family, and they wore MAGA gear as a joke. She is woke.
If she were woke, she'd have apologized by now for the ad. "Please accept my sincerest apologies. The ad was intended as a joke. I am so sorry for the pain it has caused to oppressed communities of color. I promise to learn and do better."
As of this post, she has not issued an apology. (Neither, for that matter, has American Eagle.)
She doesn't live in a cave. She's very well aware of the backlash from the left that this ad campaign has received.
