Our food costs in Oklahoma increased for many items closer to 50%. Of course, most of that was price gouging, because in Oklahoma, one grocery corporation owns most grocery. And I’m pretty sure Walmart monitors other grocers prices, because there’s are no better and they will charge as much as they can away with.

Of course. The USDX dropped a record ( since 1973) 11 percent this year alone- anything bought from outside US has increased that amount alone.

Inflation is cumulative, up up up since Covid ( supply side inflation)….and everyone rejoices when the Fed says we try to maintain 2 percent… how about trying to maintain Zero inflation? ….or better, minus ( -) inflation like we had on a Gold Standard?

Agreed. Just for one recent example, Just 2 or 3 weeks ago, Eight O’Clock Whole Bean Whole-Bean Coffee (I grind my own) sold for $14.54 for a 40-oz. bag. The next weekend, the same size bag was around 17 bucks. At Sam’s Club, a bag of Pablo’s Pride Whole Bean suddenly jumped from $15.98 to $18.98.

I personally have only seen prices here in OK go up. Never down, except for temporary promotional specials on stuff like half-gallon jugs of vinegar. The grocery corporation that I think you’re talking about does gouge, shamelessly. Meat is a bad buy there for that reason. Local farmers are definitely the way to go, IMHO. Harder to find / farther away, but well worth the minor inconvenience.
