That's true, although it is likely that the AI-fakery would be discovered during the litigation of the criminal case because there would be time. And things like alibis would still be effective.

To me, the danger with political stuff is that the window to discover and correct it is so small. Also, many voters may only see the initial fake video, and not be aware of the later proof that it was fake. Or they may not believe that it was fakes, especially if it is something negative about the opposing candidate.

I believe Texas is passing a law to criminalize AI-deep fakes that portray a candidate saying or doing something they did not say or do.

No one should ever end up in court because of AI in the FIRST PLACE...

This whole AI concept is like throwing a bunch of lawn darts straight up in the air and claiming to have fun doing it. Except now where are you going hide when they all come back down? It’s not at all fun anymore at that point...
