Post the worst covers songs you’ve ever heard
The Byrds doing Mr Tamborine Man or any of their other horrid Dylan covers.
Tiffany’s cover of “I think we’re alone now”. It drove me crazy that she changed the vocal melody on “Put your arms around me and we tumble to the ground and then we say”.
Kim Carnes’ 1981 cover of “Bette Davis Eyes. After listening to the original from 1974 by Jackie DeShannon, the shrill cover is painful to hear.
We have a winner!
Trini Lopez “America” (1963 live version)

Celine Dion You Shook Me All Night Long qualifies for top 10.
Amy Winehouse sings Sam Cookes “Cupid”.
Absolutely Wretched!

Jerry was in that “Old and in the Way” project, and they did a great high lonesome sound version of “Wild Horses”.
Who can ever forget that delightful version by Tiny Tim! UGH! And I won’t post a link to it either.
The tribute album “For the Love of Todd” has about two tracks worth hearing, but I think the worst may be this version of ‘Healer’, which admittedly has an intro that’s hard to sing:

Wait to you hear my rendition of “I’m Henry The Eighth”.
“A new performance or recording of a song by someone other than the original artist or composer. It’s essentially a reinterpretation or remake of an existing song.”
Like Walk This Way by Run DMC?
“Covering” used to refer to white artists doing their own, usually cleaned up or toned down, versions of black records. One notable one was Georgia Gibbs’ “Dance with me Henry”, a cover of Little Esther Phillips’ “Roll with me Henry.”
I think “Till There was You” came out in 1963, before Beatlemania hit. The first time I’d heard of it was in the 70s, when a DJ played it, and said that it was the first Beatles song he’d ever heard, and upon hearing it, figured the Beatles had no future.
Mainly because of this line: “There were birds in the sky, but I never sawR the winging. No I never sawR them at all”
They also did “My Bonnie (lies over the ocean)”, which was featured on an “I Love Lucy” episode called “The Quiz Show”. Every time the word “Ocean” or “Sea” came up, Lucy would get sprayed with a seltzer bottle.
Anyway, two of the worst covers (which happened to be by white people covering black artists) were by the most overrated band on earth — The Clash. “Police on my Back”, originally by Eddie Grant, and “Police and Thieves”, originally by Junior Murvin.
Love For Sale, The Carpenters

I know there is an album version of this song by Sinatra but this live version really was bad, and I like Sinatra.
George Harrison’s song, “Something” by Frank Sinatra, live.

I mean, ‘you still around, Jack...it’s gonna show’ set my teeth on edge. 😆
Hey Jude, by Der Bingle

That was when we all found out doing drugs might’ve been not such a good idea after all.
