How old was the girl who crashed right after takeoff while piloting a small plane with her Dad and flight instructor on board? Bad weather too.
6? Or 8?
People explained that she died doing something she loved.
She’s 11. She and her family are carefully crafting the image they want they world to have of her. I expect she will be something along the lines of Greta “Look at me!” Thunberg pretty soon.
She did Mt. Whitney in Commiefornia? IIRC it is 14494 ft.
It is the highest peak in the the lower 48.
I have seen 9 year olds running up to the peak at about 14,000 feet.
But good on her for doing something instead of getting a sex change surg.
What a great story! Thanks for posting. I took our kids on lots of hikes in the Bay Area and some in the Sierras, but nothing like what this girl and her dad are experiencing.
Well, that could almost be right.
In Kansas, the high point is 4039 feet above sea level on a cattle ranch. (Cf Some notable Blue Ridge mountains.... Stony Man 4,031 ft (1,229 m), Hawksbill Mountain 4,066 ft (1,239 m), Apple Orchard Mountain 4,225 ft (1,288 m) and Peaks of Otter 4,001 and 3,875 ft (1,220 and 1,181 m).
That side of the state is more alto plano and not much of a mountain unless you consider walking from my side at about 1050 " above sea level, to the pictured spot. Picture of the high point is below. Its not that far from the Colorado border, perhaps just several sections of land. (I have not visited that side of Kansas.) Note that they fly the flag!
It’s a fifty mile hike to get to the top of Gannett peak in the wind river range of Wyoming
