Went through Basic Training in 1957 at Fort Smith, Arkansas, July and August, WW II barracks no air, not even a fan, sure glad they didn't ask us to march in parades or go on those silly 10 mile hikes because it was really hot. Oh wait we did do all that stuff plus much more. I don't remember a single trooper dropping dead.
