The media conglomerate Paramount announced Wednesday afternoon that the creators of “South Park” had agreed to produce 50 new episodes over the next five years in a deal reportedly valued at $1.5 billion.
Ten hours later, “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker excoriated Paramount — and aggressively skewered President Donald Trump — in the premiere episode of the Comedy Central show’s 27th season.
In the episode, Trump (voiced by Stone) sues the town of South Park for $5 billion after they challenge Jesus Christ’s presence in their elementary school. The townspeople are prepared to fight back, but Jesus Christ (also voiced by Stone) urges them to settle.
“You guys saw what happened to CBS? Yeah, well, guess who owns CBS? Paramount,” Jesus Christ says at the episode’s climax. “Do you really want to end up like Colbert?”
Paramount is under intense scrutiny for appearing to kowtow to the Trump administration ahead of a proposed blockbuster merger. Stone and Parker were clearly riffing on their corporate parent’s eventful summer.
On July 2, Paramount agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit from Trump, who alleged that CBS’ “60 Minutes” had deceptively edited an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris. CBS denied that claim.
On July 17, CBS announced that it planned to cancel “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” in May, calling the move “purely a financial decision.” But many of Colbert’s fans cried foul, arguing the comedian was being penalized for his anti-Trump humor.
Both developments came as Paramount is preparing to be sold to Skydance Media, an entertainment production and finance company run by David Ellison, the son of Oracle mogul (and Trump ally) Larry Ellison. The corporate tie-up requires federal approval from the Federal Communications Commission.

I saw the episode last night, Cartman was pissed that NPR was canceled..he said now that woke is dead people can hate Jews and lesbians again and then you had Trump suing everyone and sleeping with the devil, thats when I changed the channel
They should go after thr Bidens, especially Hunter. Plenty of material there.
“Do you really want to end up like Colbert?”
Shows get cancelled all the time when they have no ratings and a huge financial loss.
This just reminded me to download the season 14 Mohammed episodes that will never be streamed or sold from that pirate site.
They do make fun of everyone, but they spent a whole season making fun of Trump’s run for president.
Of course they won’t be fired: they are big-money makers and Colbert was a big money loser.
Going through eternity without a sense of humor would be pretty lame. Hell, for all we know, we are God's continuous Seinfeld episode.
Ya that’s smart
Actually God commands us by mortal sin consequences to not take his name in vain
We can figure out how to laugh without making fun of Him.
Haven’t watched in a few years and even then I binge past seasons it they make fine of everyone and I can handle them making fun of me and my President.
I can live with that. As long as everybody gets skewered in the end.
It is when only one side gets it that really bothers me, because it’s always us, not them in the entertainment business.
“Going through eternity without a sense of humor would be pretty lame.”
That’s so true. Sometimes I envision my mother, her four sisters, and their husbands Up There having a laugh riot. They had so much fun on earth, it’s got to be better in Heaven.
Nothing, no idea, no person, no belief should be beyond ridicule and mockery.
EVERYBODY needs the piss taken out of them, on a regular basis.
Any public figure is fair game for anything outside of actual, provable defamation of character.
This show should be the next to be pulled of the air. It would be a kindness to its creators.
It was a funny episode.
Of course, if you have thin MAGA skin, you will be outraged.
It IS possible for political humor to be funny—even when skewering your own side.
More accurately he said that NPR was just lesbians and woke fools complaining about how they have been hurt. He goes on to say it is hilarious and the best comedy on the air.
Pretty much taking shots at both sides.
Don’t forget the “Jessie Jackson” episode. That was piss your pants funny.
Well I guess it's good that we are only having a few laughs about God's son then.
Coincidence? I don’t think so.
“many of Colbert’s fans cried foul, arguing the comedian was being penalized for his anti-Trump humor.”
Colbert also excoriated his own employer on national TV. Of course, that could’ve had nothing to do with him getting the boot.
If you don’t know about the Trinity why are you commenting?
Thanks! Got it.
