Historical data absent eyewitness documentation is subjective and subject to interpretation. "Water boils at 100C at 1 atmosphere pressure" is a testable scientific statement. "Bob boiled water last Tuesday" is not. It is a historical claim and dragging him into a lab at a later date can only establish possibilities, not prove a historical claim.
