Not the worst idea I've ever heard.
Go watch Pee Wees Big Adventure and you will understand.
“……deep in the heart of Texas!”
Seems a strange idea in general and the bike will be lost to theft, vandalism, or the elements quickly.
Pee Wee Herman’s Christmas Special is not to be missed, if you like that type of comedy.
That’s nice to hear. That movie can still make me laugh. Non-stop entertainment from beginning to end.
He seemed like a decent sort. The Pee Wee Herman character was brilliant and brilliantly done.
Bowie realizes it was all for nothing.
There going to dig a basement to display it in.
Thanks gut no. Another Dylan Mulvaney,
He was An Original and Funny Guy...
Basically.
.
Remember “Jambie”
Or His Big Shoe Bar Dance?
.
I’ve been to the Alamo and if The Bike
is in “A Visitors Center” as Part of a Tasteful Display- so be It.

Texans Wouldn’t Put Up with messen’
With the ALAMO !
In the movie his bike got stolen and someone told him his stolen bike was in the basement of the Alamo. So he went on a trip to the Alamo, hence the title of the movie, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. Of course when got there he found out there is no basement at the Alamo, he was tricked.
Mockery. The Alamo was solemn in the past. They are turning into a silly amusement park, a monument to the Mexicans as well... anything but it’s true purpose.
Dear God, NO. And I say that as a fan of the movie.
Is this the movie Pee Wee was watching when he was caught Tubin in public?
Ah ok - that’s different
Put it next to a replica of the other famous monument from his past - the video booth at the adult movie theater where he was caught, uh, enjoying himself.
The Alamo didn’t bring this on itself. It is all fall-out from the movie. The Alamo tour guides were being asked, day-in, day-out and all day long, by the tourists, “when are we going to see the basement?” Putting the bicycle where everyone can see it should put a stop to that and get the focus back on the history.
Obviously the new museum isn’t open yet, but I’ll bet it, like lots of other musicals, with have a display of all the strange or kitschy or advertising items the Alamo image on. I don’t recall the specifics, but I’ve seen it more than once. Display that reinforces the significance of the person or location by showing how deeply the story is imbedded in culture. I don’t think it’s disrespectful
