I’m with you on this one.
What is good about the bill is that 67% of it cuts public television. Not to worry, those “public” stations make millions through their production studios. They don’t just do their own programming, they compete directly with local companies and can undercut their prices because they are non-profit.
Look up Lars Larson
I have never in my life felt pain so dreadful as that which I feel upon reading this truly terrible news. How ever will I carry on?
You nailed it.
NPR can sell more NPR tote bags.
I see no reason why those smaller stations can’t make their case to state or even local governments for grants matching private donor funding IF THEY TRULY SERVE A NECESSARY COMMUNITY SUPPORTED FUNCTION THAT IS NOT OR WILL NOT BE DONE BY ANOTHER LOCAL STATION. An example would be if there were no other local station that did news on council meetings or crops reports or aired local music performances.
Vince didn’t last long in my market here deep behind the blue lines in the Soviet of Washington. He was replaced by Dana Loesch.
She’s got a take no prisoners attitude and pretty entertaining most of the time. The resonance of her voice takes some getting used to, but she’s much better than Vince on his best day.
Nobody will ever come close to the late great El Rushbo.
I listen to Chris Plante on WMAL out of DC, via IHeartRadio streaming. Of course Rush is irreplaceable, but he’s not bad.

OK, thanks. I will check him out. There are things you can be doing while listening to talk radio, like gardening, washing dishes, etc. I really miss it during those times. Now, I just watch Newsmax while in the kitchen and play smooth jazz music while gardening. Come to think of it... the music is probably much better for my mental state and blood pressure...lol.

I did??? Wow. Thanks.
“One is Allegheny Mountain Radio, a cooperative of three stations which cover Pocahontas County, West Virginia”
Let the 3 stations team up and give the free market a try. If there’s a demand for their product sufficient to pay the bills, they will survive. If not, the people have spoken. The taxpayer should not have to prop them up.
YAY!!!
WINNING!!!
The business case for public radio and television does not exist. Let the free market decide.

Vince is a bit bland for my talk show host taste. I mean... after the irreplaceable Rush... and then the overly-exited/exitable Dan...lololol... anyone would come off as dull, so no offense to Vince. But I can’t even correctly pronounce his last name and that always bothers me.
I was listening to Rick Roberts back in 2023, but he left the show for “undisclosed” reasons... which I suspect were health-related. Can’t remember now, but I’m thinking he might have taken the jab due to his heart doctor’s recommendation. Just speculating here, since my memory has faded and I’ve slept since then.
Chris Plante is the closest I have heard to Rush. Chris is on vacation this week. Mike Opelka is sitting in.
For about 10 years I worked at a decent sized public television network’s main station.
Both larger studios stayed busy even after I left in the early 00s.
Maybe 5 years ago I went with the spouse to some book signing event. The interior of the lobby was vibrant in my time. At the visit, gray and kind of depressing.
I saw a few familiar faces and I learned that the place had become a glorified relay for PBS shows.
As things are now, I don’t know how much is made in house.

Really? I had heard his name but never tuned into his show. Will do so now. Thanks!
