“The people in Tennessee are among the nicest kindest we ever encounter.”
The first time we went to the grocery store after we moved the checker said:
Her: Huuh-neey (that’s my southern accent), are you new here?
Me: Yes. We just moved here.
Her: Where do you go to church? (Not “DO you go to church?” They assume you do.)
Me: We haven’t found one yet. We just got here.
Then the clerk and customers behind us in line were fighting over us, “Come to our church!”
“The west coast are the least friendly. Miserable.”
Hubby is from SoCal. He was suspicious when people were so nice. “What do they want?” I told him they don’t want anything; they’re just nice. It took him a while to get used to that.

I have cousins in Cali that come here to central Texas on occasion. It takes them a while to learn to trust strangers.
Some of them never do.
Sucks to be them.
HA. Had a couple move here from Chicago. They freaked out how nice we are. They said people just start talking to you.
Eventually they moved back.
thanks for that funny and great story. “where do you go to church”.....not “do you go to church”.....Love it! Thank you.
