Yeah, her dad was big on drag racing at Irwindale back in the day. He would take her along. I think IN N OUT is still a big sponsor of quarter mile drags.

A great book to read about the IN N OUT story is availabe on Amazon. It’s a story of triumph and tragedy for sure, including the company jet that crashed back in the 90s in Orange County killing the then brother in charge and other key executives. Leaving the other brother (her dad) to run things but he was a drug addict. He was smart enough though not to change anything.

Then he died and that’s how she became the sole owner. The trust set up by the parents allowed only a blood relative to have ownership....she’s the only surviving blood relative of the original 4....Dad, Mom, and 2 sons. The son killed never had any children. So she’s a billionaire. Quite a story to read..

“Then he died and that’s how she became the sole owner. “

That’s not quite how I remember it. There was a period when both the sons were dead, but the grandma Esther Snyder was still alive. At that point, grandma and granddaughter co-owned the business together, with grandma was in charge (officially, at least). Esther died in 2006, and then at that point, the granddaughter become sole owner.
