Tucson icon Linda Ronstadt lost her capacity to speak and hear after a second bout of COVID earlier this year.

With the help of therapy and attentive, around-the-clock care, the legendary songstress has regained her speech, she recently told a high school classmate who checked in with her ahead of their 60th reunion at Catalina High School.

Though Ronstadt has regained her speech, she said her hearing loss may be permanent.

She had a good run though. She’s now a sickly old lady.

She was not a song writer

That wouldn't have prevented her from finding a songwriter so she could release new music instead of only recycling the hits of others.

More than likely it was a combo of clot shots vax injuries that whacked out her immune system.

Very true.

Most performers did/had to, to continue to perform at most venues, sadly.

Welcome to FR, btw!

“In 2013, after years of struggling with her vocals, Ronstadt was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. However, she later learned that she actually had a Parkinson’s-like disorder called progressive supranuclear palsy.”

She posted this online last year during the campaign to JD Vance lest there be any doubt.

“I raised two adopted children in Tucson as a single mom. They are both grown and living in their own houses,” Ronstadt wrote. “I live with a cat. Am I half a childless cat lady because I’m unmarried and didn’t give birth to my kids? Call me what you want, but this cat lady will be voting proudly in November for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”

In my opinion her Spanish language songs and music videos were the best. Still very enjoyable.

An amazing, multidimensional vocal talent from my misspent youth.

Happy Birthday Linda!

To me, she was a great singer and very good-looking. I do not care about her politics. I think it is hard to deny the excellence of her version of Blue Bayou, which is a cover of the substantially different Roy Orbison version.

I thought she was quite good. I remember seeing her before she was super famous at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach along with Hoyt Axton.

There’s nothing wrong with using others’ songs especially if you’re going to do a good job with it. You get a song that was inspired by I would advise against hiring someone. What’s the advantage in that. She bought the rights to those songs. Maybe the songwriter isnt a great singer and is happy to have someone do their songs

You’d also need to defend any group or soloist who does this

Led Zeppelin for example

I still find it hard to understand why Ronstadt is is in the rock n roll hall of fame but Grand Funk Railroad is not.
