Is There No Cure For Democrats’ Derangement?

Diana, I hear you regarding family. For the past 5 years, my 3 sisters and I have had sort of group emails. Sometimes daily, sometimes a week or more apart. We always had an understanding that we would not discuss politics, and it seemed to work. Well, last month, one of the 2 more leftist sisters said she knew she was crossing the line, but then went on a rant about the L.A. immigrant raids, authoritarianism, how much our society is starting to resemble Nazi Germany, mentioned POTUS (but failed to capitalize his last name or indicate that he is a duly elected president). It was very offensive to me. I always thought that the agreement to keep politics out of discussions indicated that the relationships we had were more important. Well, after that rant last month, I have stayed quiet, not participating in adding my news to the conversations. Yesterday, the one who raged about Trump, said that if I wanted to continue to receive the emails, I would need to speak up. (WTF??) So I answered and explained my position on it all and said that I will not be bullied over political differences, and if that was going to be part of what I could expect going forward, then she wins, and leave me out. My message said, several times, that IF she needed to be free to be political, I would not be part of it. So her answer to me was then basically that it sounded like I made my decision and she wouldn’t include me in the exchanges any longer, and that she was relieved over not having to make the effort. ???? I have six siblings. 4 are VERY leftist to the point of apparently hating me, and 2 are moderately liberal but not completely estranged. It is so sad. The facebook stuff they put up is mostly full of lies, out of context, or just the first 1/3 of a story. They put up comments about Trump supporters being stupid, “have a lot to answer to us for”, says we are haters, white supremacists, Nazis, etc., etc. I know I need to do a better job coping with all of this, but I would be lying if I denied that it hurts at a deep emotional level. They just think I am the wrong one, uneducated, just not as evolved as them, whatever.
