In any case it doesn't matter what can be proven, it just matters that the allegations get recorded so that all of the talking heads on The View, on CNN, on MSNBC, etc., can just repeat the allegations and play the soundbite.

Average 'low information voter' will just remember hearing the allegations, not whether there was any truth to them.
