10 tribes followed Jeroboam into idolatry just after the kingdom reached pinnacle of power and wealth during David and Solomon’s reign.

In his old age, Solomon turned away from God. Thus God anointed Jeroboam king over those 10 tribes of Israel. So those tribes did nothing wrong by leaving Solomon.

Yes, those 10 tribes did soon anger God by falling into idolatry.

Yep. When a fish stinks, the head stinks first.
Because of rebellion, Jeroboam was in exile in Egypt to keep from being killed and stayed there until Solomon had passed.
The other son, Rehoboam, completely lacked the Godly widsom of his father by following the council of his young and naive friends rather than council of the wisely elders. The end result was the mess of a split kingdom. Both were warned thru the prophets. Both didn’t listen. The price was high both in the short and long term.
1 Kings Chapter 11-13 or so is quite the story..

I’ll agree with you, though I quibble to note I said they followed him into idolatry, which certainly was not “nothing wrong”
