A debate on the US budget is long overdue. There is talk of a second reconciliation bill but it’s poor timing. The time to act was now really. I fear mid-term elections will just be an excuse to put things off. It’s a mess really.
Hannity on his radio show just prior to the passage of the BBB was taking up the mantle of demanding a return to Constitutional regular order, the sine qua non of generating balanced federal budgets, but notoriously absent since 9/11/2001.
Why push for another reconciliation bill
Billions of revenue from Trump-instituted tariffs are rolling in. So, in terms of pushing for a balanced budget, the iron is arguably hot for the striking.
What words of wisdom!
We're barreling toward a mid-term disaster at warp speed.
So many act like Trump went in with four years, and then another eight from Vance. The problem is that elections are held, and the GOPers in Congress don’t do a lot to keep that confidence up.
Then right before each election, we’ll have the worn out mantra rolling out about how any GOP candidate is better than a Dem, or how we just need to get past past this election or this vote, and we’ll sort it out the next time. Except the next time never gets here. The GOPers in Congress have been just as responsible for current conditions as the Dems.
