In the days of the ice man delivering for people ice boxes at home, sections of ice including from icebergs were cut with saws

I remember my Dad telling me about the iceman delivering ice in a wagon when he was a kid. To his dying day, he called a refrigerator an "ice box." He would have turned 108 today.

Finally a topic that was about something before my time.

I was startled to watch the 1948 crime movie Naked City which had many actual scenes of New York settings for the drama. A number of times there were horse drawn wagons in NYC among the trucks and cars. I would have assumed there weren’t any horse wagons by 1948 but I was wrong. This was the origin of the later series “There are 8 million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.” Won an Academy Award for the cinematography.
