I sleep with radio static and a fan.

I use ear muffs for everything loud and avoid loud noises as I can. Too little, too late I guess. Maybe some day after I die they will find a cure or work around.

One thing I don't see mentioned is battery or rechargable.

Not that I'm old school (which I am) but I steadfastly buy battery powered hearing aids.

I can buy batteries anywhere and carry spares with me, but you get caught away from home (where the charger is) and the hearing aids run down, you're SOL.

My audiologist and I go round and round on this point because of course all the new hot are rechargable.

It's like an EV versus ICE choice.

Consider the features, you want. I got mine at Costco. I made sure it had Bluetooth, which allows me to have the sound from my TV and Cell phone go directly to my hearing aid.

Thanks to everybody who replied. Looks like Costco for me; the closest one is about 30 miles away, but even with the membership fee, the savings and the drive will be worth it.

With the 2 places I went to, it sounds like they discount the sticker price down to what they want to charge, because the same insurance covered different percentages of their gross amount. So I was looking at 4K to 6.5 AFTER the insurance coverage. I will update after I get through the process.

Thanks again.

As soon as you hear any loud ringing, press your thumb behind and below your ear upwards to close off the ear canal.

If the tinnitus hasn’t progressed too far, it should help.

(Release once the worst of the the ringing has subsided.)

If you are a Costco member, I would strongly recommend asking for a hearing test. They can then know more of your needs to point you to a good fit. They have high quality models from reputable manufacturers.

Yes, I got the test and my hearing aids at Costco too, $1,500 and worth every penny, plus every time you visit a Costco, you can drop your hearing aids off for a cleaning and filter change for free while you shop. Highly recommend them.

I tried in the ear Sony hearing aids. Purchased through Best Buy. They have an unconditional return period, so if you don’t find that they work for you, BB will refund 100%, no questions.
They work for me, but my ears need to have fitted tips to be perfect, so I will be going to an audiologist for custom device.
