HBO will air the show, expected to arrive in 2026

The as-yet-untitled sketch show will star the Curb Your Enthusiasm creator, alongside some familiar faces from that series and notable guest stars, according to a report from LA Times. The Obamas will serve as executive producers through their company Higher Ground Productions.

There is no official release date for the show, but it is likely to air next year as the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary.

In a press release, HBO wrote: “President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honour America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion…But then Larry David called”.

Comedian David added: “Once Curb ended, I celebrated with a three-day foam party. After a violent allergic reaction to the suds, I yearned to return to my simple life as a beekeeper, harvesting organic honey from the wildflowers in my meadow. Alas, one day my bees mysteriously vanished. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I return to television, hoping to ease the loss of my beloved hive”.

Finally, President Obama joked: “I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David”.

The comedy legend’s work with the former Democratic leader comes after many criticisms of the current US President, Donald Trump, in recent months. Last year, he called him a “sociopath” in an interview, while In April, he wrote the satirical essay My Dinner With Adolf for The New York Times.

The fictional story was a criticism of fellow comedian Bill Maher complimenting the Commander In Chief after a recent meeting.

There was a time when Curb was funny ... until it wasn't. When they redid it it was cringeworthy how stale and unfunny it was. No creativity. Everyone did their same tired schtick. Larry getting into a tiring long argument with someone, Leon grifting off Larry where every other word is f*ck, Susie Essman cursing at Larry like the harridan she is. Not funny.

Add that to now the unfunny Kenyan ... well, good luck. I won't be watching.
