Before the 2006, I had a 2000 4 banger, it went 212K but was 2WD and putting chains on got old.
**putting chains on got old.**
I hope you still keep chains around, because if you are driving in wet and/or packed snow or ice you are still almost helpless in those conditions. I’ve done enough trucking through the years to see many MANY awd/4wd vehicles helplessly sliding off of the roads.
Since moving to south central TN over 8 years ago we’ve had 3 snow events that proved how helpless 4wd is in our hilly neighborhood.
My parents never had a 4wd car or pickup until Dad bought a 74 Chevy 3/4 ton 4wd. And still most of the farmers in the neighborhood still had 2wd pickups. Of course there were plenty of tractors to clear roads and barnyards, and pull vehicles.
