Leave car keys by the front door to avoid home invasion, Toronto police officer says

A Toronto police officer suggested that residents leave their car keys by the front door to avoid a home invasion, seemingly to let criminals steal their vehicle if they break in, leave and avoid injuries.

The Toronto Police Service issued a statement Wednesday confirming that an officer made the remarks at a recent community meeting.

The officer suggested “that people leave the keys to their vehicle in a faraday bag by the front door,” the statement said.

“While well meaning, there are also other ways to prevent auto theft motivated home invasions,” it continued.

Faraday bags block signal-duplicating devices used to replicate key fobs which criminals can use to steal vehicles.

In Toronto, home invasions and break-ins for auto thefts rose 400 per cent last year, the Toronto Police Service said.

At an Etobicoke community meeting, Const. Marco Ricciardi is heard saying, “To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at your front door.”

“They’re breaking into your home to steal your car. They don’t want anything else,” he said, which CityNews first reported.

“A lot of them that they’re arresting have guns on them and they’re not toy guns, they’re real guns. They’re loaded.”

My Canadian wife was 19 when we got married in Alberta. She held the liquor license for the reception in the Church basement.

A few months later, we were driving through New Hampshire, and I decided to pick up a bottle of Clan MacGregor for Mrs. Black Elk, as it was reputedly cheaper in the New Hampshire state stores.

At the check out, I had to present ID, but they also required ID of my then 20 year old wife, and denied me the purchase because I couldn’t buy liquor with someone underage with me!

Leave your expensive jewelry out there too, it could save your house from being ransacked.

In Kalifornia, San Francisco residents were leaving their car windows down, and the car trunk open. There was nothing to steal, but the street thugs and street zombies were breaking into the locked cars nonetheless. By “showing” the street zombies that the car was empty, the car owner hoped to prevent broken windows, etc.

No word on how many of the street zombies slept in those cars.

Liberalism at its finest.

Between 1914-1945 Canada lost forever its best genetic stock. Abortion and birth control has further depleted what was left.Today’s Canada is not what once was and will never recover.

I leave my keys where I wish.
I own 5 acres fully fenced. barbed wire on top and at the base.
You cross that fence you are a trespasser, a threat to my families safety.
The dogs and other animals will treat you as a threat.
Me, the owner is an even bigger threat to you.
And I’m in such a rural place, nobody can hear you scream.
I have lots of wild pigs that will eat anything on the ground. They don’t care if it is alive or not.
Aloha!

The title is misleading. They left out “in a faraday bag”. These new cars don’t need keys, you just have to have your fob close to the car to start it. Thieves use a device to steal or boost your fob signal and steal your car. Keeping your keys in a faraday bag keeps your signal safe.

They’ll tell them to just give up their houses and let them move in.

Isn’t that pretty much what that prospective communist mayor of New York wants to do?

“To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at your front door.”... “They’re breaking into your home to steal your car

Surprised Canadian police aren't telling home owners to leave keys in car.

"Also put your bank cards and credit cards in a clearly marked clip on the front door, and don’t forget to include a list of all PINs and passwords."

And leave a couple of chocolate chip cookies beside the door.
