“The median half-life of glyphosate in soil has been widely studied; values between 2 and 197 days have been reported in the literature. A typical field half-life of 47 days has been suggested.”

Salting the soil can eventually kill it to the point where NOTHING can grow.
If it’s an area you want barren, that’s not much problem, but otherwise, it will prevent the stuff you want from growing as well.
I see our little friends from South of the border spraying it on everything around here.
well we have to keep feeding the africans who have 10 kids each
round up would have killed the grass
it was something else that your cat ingested
golf courses and professionally tended grasses are sprayed with all kinds of stuff
glad the vet was able to save your cat
I have used a lot of glyphosate
but never in my coffee
unfortunately it is no longer available anywhere near me
Glyphosate, and similar herbicides, have dramtically increased yields on my farm. By not tilling and mechanically cultivating, not only has the top soil improved substantially, but we’ve been able to increase the seed population.
.
50 mg per kg for a 50 kg adult is 2.5 grams. That is a spoonful of glyphosphate every day. This is at least 1000 times more than anyone will ingest from residue on fruits or vegetables. It’s like adding a spoon of Roundup to your coffee every day.
“In 1670 historical controls, only 15 animals were diagnosed with leukemia with an overall incidence rate of 0.90% in comparison to 1.63% of the current study.”

I know people struggling to keep garden plants weed free for decades. I hadn’t gardened in 20 years due to where I lived, but as I moved to a place I could plant things, I read about mulching with just using last years leaves, so I went to back of property where they all got piled up and just took a few wheel barrows and as was ( no chopping up or anything) just put them around plants and in walk ways.
Hugely reduced weeds, less watering needed and plants seemed to do a lot better than other area I didnt do it to. So now every garden season I leaf everything. No more bare dirt to expose weed seeds to sun, I don’t mind less watering either.
people make things harden than has to be when they try to figure new solutions to things God’s design of nature already resolved.
It killed a former landlord we had years ago.
He used that stuff on all his properties and it would get all over him from the wind and splash-back.
This was way back in the 80’s..............
To reach the lowest level used in this study, a 180 lb person would have to eat about 900 lbs of fruit, every day, for their entire life.

The dose is very, very high.
So, how dangerous is in a “reasonable dose” of perhaps 1/1000 the size of the lowest dose in the study.
Very difficult to say.
It’s always about money.
You need to move your decimal point one to the left, your numbers are out by a factor of ten. It’s 0.825 pounds per day for a 75 kilo adult at the 50 milligrams per kilo (o.5 grams/10 kilo) rate.
Your point still stands, that it’s an absurd amount of product that no one other than an unsupervised toddler *MIGHT* ingest.
A friend of mine gets soil from a local lake when it’s low for his garden. I never did, but I put down kelp when I’m planting.
My backyard garden is a bigger than it would need to be, but only because I expect to lose a portion to pests and such. I’ve learned some natural solutions for pests over the years from locals (and online). But a lot of what I do is hands on, not feasible on these huge farms.
I wish more people would grow their own. I’m nearly 60 and I grow enough for hubby and myself and our 2 grown kids. The young couples (early 20s to mid 30s) in a Bible study hubby and I teach are all putting in gardens and raised beds and raising chickens now. I’m getting them started with heirlooms.
It’s almost a lost art. I didn’t even learn it from my mom, but my grandmother
International study reveals glyphosate weed killers cause multiple types of cancer in humans that possess plant genes. Must be in the fast food they eat. Since glyphosate only affects plant genes.
Ranger Pro is just one step above cat pee. Right out of the barrel at 43% glyphosate. No one uses it full strength except the idiot Italians who did the ‘study’. Commercial sprayers typically use a 3% solution; a 4% solution is considered strong. Dissipation[ total break down of the compound ] occurs within 36 hours.
This rigged study was done to facilitate lawsuits for big money. Much like the same sort of ‘science’ was done to get rid of DDT.
Reputable companies put up warning signs to keep off the grass for 24 hours. They did not spray glyphosate which would nave killed the entire lawn.
Without glyphosate, crop yields will be a fraction of what they are now.

That’s the plan behind fake ‘science’ studies like this one - you will eat insects and love it, while various law firms will cleanup from all the lawsuits filed.
