They found an inscription on one of the pyramids, turns out the greatest of their kings was named "Optimus Primate".
Sounds like a great place for a resort. /jk
I streamed that one the other evening. It's easily the best of the four (or five?), although I still like that opening gambit section of "Temple of Doom".
Let’s hear for the monkey!

Lol, Except the concept of sleep is almost nonexistent...
It really is a nasty environment that challenges your personal resolve... :)
Other than the infections and insects, I’m a little jealous. :^)

Tell the Left it it Trump free so they should go there on a One Way ticket.
Saw all the movies. The only thing I didn’t like about “Temple of Doom” was Cate Capshaw’s character. All she did was scream through the whole movie. Very irritating. I believe that’s when Capshaw first met Steven Spielberg, and later married him. Both had been married before.
My BIL is a doctor and he's from Honduras. All the trips I made with my sister and their family, the BIL always brought antibiotics with him. I always started to get stomach discomfort there and would immediately start the pills. It worked like magic.
There's nothing mysterious about Montezuma's Revenge, it's caused by a common bacteria that the natives are immune to and we are not.
Its been a long time, but this is a bit like reading a Tom Swift novel!
Ben...Bizzare! I see a kangaroo playing a drum in that mural! And a Watusi dancing Monkey!

Yup, I got my first case of Campy in Honduras and suffered when I returned to the states.
The second time I got it was in Bolivia. I knew what I had and jumped on it asap.
Funny, in my line of work, my grad students routinely get it from their interactions with rumen cannulated calves. I would bet 5 students over the last 6 years.
I only have a HS education so I don't know what the heck you are talking about.....
Interesting! Thanks for posting story and the links.
Happy 7/7/25
One of the scariest books I have ever read. The first parts are great: exploring, finding, learning. Then they go home and the disease sets in. And there is no cure!!!
Almost as bad as the Hot Zone!
My profession is a beef cattle nutritionist. We use cattle with windows that can be opened into the rumen (a fermentation vat which can uniquely digest fibrous materials like hay) to collect rumen fluid which contains bacteria.
I apologize for coming across too technical. Bottom line line, our work involves making cattle more healthy and efficient. Our end goal is to make the best eating beef in the world.
Thanks!
