I never got the smallpox vaccine as I have eczema, and even in the 50’s, they knew that meant I was a great risk from the vaccine. But the dr said that if there was ever a smallpox outbreak, I’d need to be one of the first to get it, because the smallpox would certainly kill me.

So I wonder if the susceptibility to vaccine injury is an indicator of an issue in the immune system and it’s response that would also leave the person in greater danger if they actually got sick.

But there’s simply no way of knowing.

Time travel can’t happen and there’s no way to see how someone would fare being infected with the exact same virus with and without a vaccine so they could tell if the vaccine actually helped.
