Wow. Fun fact. In the 1990s my mother who could no longer drive gave us her Caddy four door. We sold our little GM Tracker.
The Caddy, free, was the most expensive car I ever owned!
The chances of the younger generation spending $20000++ on a custom hot rod or 60s muscle car toy, are as likely as most of them buying homes. No way 95 percent of them have that kind of money. It's why you only see old retired geezers with money cruising around in them.
The price of those 60s classic cars or old muscle cars is way out of their realm. That's why they don't care about the big ticket stuff. They simply don't have the money for that stuff. They're so expensive, even most retirees don't have that kind of money.
It's like GA or general aviation. It's become the realm of the well off and wealthy.
Yes thank you
I think that is correct
Hard to argue with that. There was something special about the big blocks, at least until you tried to bend them around a corner.
That sounds like a super sweet ride.
Hope you’re loving every minute of it.
How does that 650cfm do serving the 383? Seems like it might lean out at the top end, but maybe you’re running a more mild cam...?
Got a cammed up 350 Vortec in my ‘63 Impala “survivor” car with a Holley 750 on top and its got plenty of leg all the way up the power curve. By “cammed up”; I see around 8psi manifold vacuum at in-gear idle (gotta be careful with my Power Valve selection), so it’s a pretty big lift/duration profile. Engine build came with when I got it, so the exact cam specs are unknown to me & I haven’t had a valve cover off to put a guage on there and get the numbers.
“An EV with fake V8 sound? Must have been one of their DEI transgender employees that came up with that bright idea.”
I was once stuck with a Charger on a rental and had to drive 200 miles in the damn thing with it’s stupid juvenile rumbling noise. Thankfully it was after one of my many international trips and I had my noise-cancelling headphones with me...and they worked!
Mine came with edelbrock 600.
Research showed a 383 is max 675cfm @ 5500rpm, so I replaced with the 650. Since it’s a driver, not a trailer queen, so i went conservative. Runs great and excellent torque.
Like you, engine came with the car, so crank specs are unknown, but it’s lumpy. Will probably do a new short block build with forged crank & rods, compcam roller & top off with port/polish dart heads this winter in the garage. This way all values are known and match.
