Sophie Cunningham, the Indiana Fever guard, has been making all sorts of headlines lately.
The Fever guard went viral last month for being Caitlin Clark's "enforcer" during a game against the Connecticut Sun. She decked Sun guard Jacy Sheldon late in the game after Clark had gotten hit in the eye earlier in the contest. Cunningham has since become a fan favorite among those who support Clark.
Cunningham, who starred collegiately at Missouri - and began her WNBA career in Phoenix - has since become one of the most-followed players in the league. Cunningham now has one million followers on Instagram and she's landed some impressive endorsement deals because of it.
But Cunningham also went viral this week for a controversial statement in the wake of the WNBA's expansion plans. The league is planning to expand to Detroit, Cleveland and Philadelphia in the coming years.
"I don't know how excited people are to be going to Detroit," Cunningham said on Tuesday, in response to the WNBA's expansion announcement.
"There's more opportunities, so I get that aspect, but I also think you want to listen to your players too. Where do they want to play? Where are they going to get excited to play and draw fans?" Cunningham added. "I'm not so sure what the though process is there."
Cunningham, unsurprisingly, was criticized by many for her comments, including the City of Detroit and the City of Cleveland.
But Cunningham is used to taking heat on social media.
The WNBA guard has been accused of being MAGA by many on social media. She's been referred to as "MAGA Barbie" by many on the left. Cunningham has been spotted following some right-leaning figures on social media.

Detroit is gross. She is not wrong. Theyre a wanna be sports town.
We in PHX lost a great one in Sophie, not that I went to WNBA games, but she was the ONLY female announcer who actually added anything. Her comments were spot on, occasionally critical, and always entertaining. She was a great #2 behind Eddie Johnson.
I understand that the chances of an undrafted free agent making the NBA are fairly low....they’re even difficult for a 2nd round draft choice.
What about the WNBA? I’d guess they’re equally low but I don’t know.
her legs stand 5'2"
What’s the tat on her left wrist owner brand?.
I dunno.
Not gonna lie, I'm more curious as to where in that dress is her underwear?
It appears as she's one clumsy step away from giving a very lucky photographer the full Sophie.
Well hey.
Give the young lady a chance.
Agree film shoot lasted longer then expected.
Oh NO!
