How will the liberals on X explain this? They keep telling us that Trump is Putin’s puppet.
Seriously, both Trump and Putin should take each other’s call.
If Putin gave a little on Iran and Trump gave a little on Ukraine, it’s ok with me.
I’d like to see Russia brought into the west. With Obama and Hilary’s phony claims of Russian interference in US elections falling apart, why not reach out to Russia?
If I’m not mistaken, the US and Russia were once both seen as frontiers of European civilization. Russia was hijacked by the European idea of communism. The Democrat fondness for communist regimes shows that we have flirted with communism also.

I would too. Met wonderful Russian people when I lived in San Francisco. Nice little Russian restaurants ranging from cheap little delis to the Russian Renaissance, best and most expensive food in town. Worth it too. Took kids there for birthday celebrations. A few wealthy women got out with their jewels through Vladivostok, land spent a lot of money starting the San Francisco Ballet School.
Plus, I’ve traveled a lot but still want to see beautiful St. Petersburg where Peter te Great built a beautiful city and a fabulous museum full of priceless paintings.
There is a free book on The Gutenberg Project, as well as Kindle, called A Short History of Russia, by Mary Platt Parmele. It traces Russia’s beginning, up to the years before the Russian Revolution. It’s very interesting, and speaks to the Russian mindset that is evident even today.

Agreed. We are actually natural allies, turned against each other by Communism, and we in the U.S. are to blame for failing to make a friend of Russia beginning in the early ‘90s.
They sold Alaska to us in 1867 - and would never have done so if we weren’t considered friendly. We leased a large part of central NJ to the Russian Army in the late 1800s and early 1900s for them to test artillery shells propelled by DuPont powder - and we would never have done so if we didn’t think of Russia as a friendly nation. Communism came to Russia, and for 75 years we were enemies (except for brief cooperation to defeat Germany in WW2). In the early ‘90s we could have brought them into the fold of Western nations by not being aggressive in foreign policy and by engaging in a new Marshall Pkan to help them modernize their economy. Instead, we didn’t help them at all and pushed NATO right up to their border (contrary to a signed agreement we had with them).
Hopefully, Trump can reverse this idiocy and finally bring Russia to to West - to our great mutual benefit.
