I like your project. It would have to be massively expanded to make a difference. Then there’s the maintenance after you and the following generations are gone.

Absolutely true. I'm just trying to keep the genetics going so that we can learn about potential benefits and/or uses, of which I have found several. I believe the only means within reach is to do that on a sample space basis, and that it must be done within the next century or so or we'll lose the foundations of the soil system.
