There’s always been talk of some punishment of employers who knowingly hire illegals but that’s never happened has it? The supposed E-verify program has been in place for decades but it doesn’t seem to have had any effect on hiring of illegals. I sometimes see signs at businesses saying they use E-verify in hiring but does it actually work as a deterrant?
Again, we don’t know what this will look like if it even happens. Will each individual be vetted? Will there be fines for both employers and illegals? Will they have to go home and apply for legal entrance?
If President Trump is considering true amnesty then that will be the biggest 180 degree betrayal of a campaign promise since “Read my lips, no new taxes” of Bush Sr. President Trump has to know that there will be no coming back from something like this. The midterms will be lost and he will truly be a lame duck for the last two years of his term. I can’t believe he would do that to us.
As I hear so often on X22, we will have to see how this plays out.
The administration is teetering along on a tightrope of time risk. Illegals, retained housing volume, medical industry scamming and scandal, et.al. any one of them can be the keystone the removal of which will demolish the implied cost structure of the current economic environment.
It must come apart at some point, but it’s got to be a as close to a controlled demolition as possible. I’m betting that this is the center point of Q commentary on the military’s part in this. Rectifying any of those mentioned situations without any means of control would result in national and global chaos. Merely the amount of grift removed so far has spooked markets. Anything that does something like thrashes housing valuations or wrecks the stock market is going to show up immediately in the tax bases of state and local governments.
When the wheels come off the cart of graft and corruption there has to be a means or assurance in place that individuals and possibly smaller companies don’t end up losing physical assets because 2 or 3 zeros come off the end of the valuation. People are going to have to be able to continue to attend work knowing that they will get paid in something representing the set value of an asset that assures them that they are reaping in the neighborhood of the same return they were previously getting for their sweat equity. We [speaking at the moment for Americans] aren’t averse to undergoing some level of hardship to correct this, but it DOES NOT get to happen with all the individuals and entities that dove into the deep end of this system and wallowed in it coming out the other side intact or smelling like roses.
Obviously where Trump spoke has a fairly large exposure to subsidized and criminally ignored employment risk. Maybe it’s significant enough that it needed to be placated with some political jawboning to keep the area stable. He’s not going to amnesty a s***load of people, but they definitely need something to start converting Cheeto vacuums into productive replacements in fairly short order...
