G’nite, lj!
You know, it’s the strangest thing. The new company I’m at wanted to give me a company shirt, when I first started, but I told them I’d pass. There seems to be a pattern of me getting company shirts and then I’m not at that company much longer. No big deal, right?
Now there’s a big meeting with the board of directors coming in tomorrow, and I’ve had no less than three different people come in and tell me to go get my free shirt to wear then, along with the HR manager sending me a follow up email to get a shirt. You know, the ones that have the Nike “just do it” logo on them.
So of course, I do a quick search on how Nike came up with the “Just Do It” mechandising logo. Surprise, surprise, it appears to be satanic:
“‘Just Do It’ was dreamed up by Dan Wieden who was the head of ad-agency Wieden & Kennedy at the time. And according to Wieden, the slogan was more or less inspired by the final words of murderer Gary Gilmore.
“In 1976, Gilmore robbed and killed a gas station attendant then a motel worker in Utah and was sentenced to death.
“When he was set to be executed via firing squad in 1977, he was asked if he had any last words and reportedly said: ‘Let’s do it’.”
It’s sure gonna be fun raining on that parade with “Let’s not and say we did.”
