A very good friend of mine told me about this. However, in her case, her body figured out what she was doing and shortly afterwards, it didn’t work for her anymore... she said her doctor affirmed this as an expected outcome. :(

I wouldn't think it's a good thing to do on a regular basis, as you don't really need to eat a lot of carbs. I've pretty much "kicked the habit".
But once in a while you just "gotta have some Basmati rice".
