Russians advance slower than a SNAIL with 50k pinned down as Putin’s summer offensive mired in Ukraine’s ‘dronegrinder’

THE Russian invasion of Ukraine has been advancing at an incredibly slow pace - with Kyiv's "dronegrinder" warfare miring Putin's summer offensive.

The rate at which Moscow is capturing land has been dubbed "slower than a snail" - all while the human cost of Russian casualties is sky high.

After 448 days of fighting inside Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast, the Russians reportedly only managed to take control of 50 per cent of the city.

Which means the troops, on average, are only able to take 0.00629 square miles of land per day - which is a painfully low conversion rate.

Even snails, which have a speed of 0.03 miles per hour, can cover more land than what the Russians have gained in the region.

What is left is stock securities held by oligarchs at inflated prices. They can’t sell them at those inflated prices and if the sell them at lower prices the value of the sovereign wealth fund takes a double hit.

What can Western countries sell given their debt is already more than 100% of GDP while Russia's is at about 20%?

Sort of like Texas is historically part of Mexico?

Imagine Texas....under Mexican rule. Imagine American English speakers being oppressed by the Mexican government. Then you'd have a similar situation.

“What can Western countries sell”

Irrelevant. We were discussing Russia.

Not only the wealth fund, their whole market valuation takes a hit. A BIG credit could lead devastation of their economy.

US Debt to GDP 124%

Russia debt to GDP 16.4%

UK debt to GDP 95.8%

France debt to GDP 113%

Italy debt to GDP 135%

And you're trying to tell us that Russia is the one in tougher economic straits?

LOL! Do you not understand what you wrote?

To make the analogy you are saying “Imagine American Ukranian speakers being oppressed by the Russian government.”

“Russia debt to GDP 16.4%”

21%. Their GDP is proposed up by their wartime economy which has been financed by robbing from their reserve fund.

The gravy train has ended. Putin and his oligarchs will have to be satisfied with less ill-gott1en gains.

LOL! Do you not understand what the situation there is? The Donbas was part of Russia for centuries. It is filled with Russian speaking ethnic Russians (like Crimea). The Commies placated the Ukrainian SSR by giving it swathes of what had historically been Russia back in the early 1920s. Kruschov the Ukrainian gave the Ukrainian SSR Crimea in 1954. Of course none of this mattered because it was the Soviet Union. Then the Soviet Union ended and those lands now belonged to an independent Ukraine which is something that had not existed for centuries.

It was the government in Kiev that pass all kinds of restrictive language laws and which attacked a couple of regions in eastern Ukraine when they said they wanted autonomy.

Remember the posts where you talked about Russia's economic difficulties and how their sovereign wealth fund was just half of what it had been before the war? I'm sure you can find those posts if you scroll up a bit.

The Google AI said 16.4. An article I read said 19.9. You're saying 21%. OK. Regardless, everybody agrees their national debt is VASTLY lower than that of Western countries who are financing the war on Ukraine's side. Who is in greater financial difficulty? I'd say Western countries are.

“The Google AI said 16.4.”

That was 2024 before their economy started tanking.

Lets take a look at the source of those videos, HS Mapping and search for videos about Pokrovsk, going back a year. This is what I found going back a year:

For a defense to collapse for a year sounds odd to me. But then, my logic and reasoning are based on American cultural norms
They are not founded on Russian Nationalism, and definitely not any need to defend any Russian empire building.

This one from ten months ago, really shows the point: "Russian Forces Just 2 Kilometers Away from Pokrovsk l Central Toretsk Collapsed"

It has taken a year for Russia to achieve these three monumental tasks of historic military effort:

1. Advance two kilometers, which happen to be.
2. 35 kilometers from Donetsk city, where the invasion started.
2. All to not capture a city of 30 square kilometers.

This just adds to the three years worth of reasons why we Zeepers aren't impressed with Russian bravado or those who defend it.

If 21% debt to GDP is "tanking" I can only wish we tank really really hard given our debt to GDP ratio is about 5 times that.

You are missing a big factor. The Iran GDP is boosted by wartime spending. Those products have gone up in smoke.

The wealth fund has been drained. The gravy train has ended.

But keep up the Russian propaganda.

Not gonna feel sorry for pathetic Putin and his Russian invaders. Putrid stabs everyone in the back. His latest victims being the scummy Ayatollahs. Putrid did not lift a finger to help them as the IDF and US bunker busters decimated their nuclear program.

The Russian air defense systems had their reputations destroyed by the IDF/IAF that easily killed them and neutralized them in Iran. Israel destroyed 4x Russian S-300 air defense _____ The S-400, their most advanced was promised to Iran but not yet delivered.

The S-400 is considered the most advanced due to its long-range multi-target capabilities, advanced radar, anti-stealth technology, and integration of four missile types1. It is globally recognized as one of the most advanced long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems2. The S-400 missile ....
