We were in Girl Scouts, going to Sunday School, playing in our treehouse, playing jacks and hopscotch and swimming in our above ground pool. We all played musical instruments and were involved in school extracurricular activities.
We had close friends in our neighborhoods and in school. We always wanted the best for everyone - there was no evil like this situation in our lives. The only bad things we saw were on the news or on television. Nobody ‘dated’ - we might hold hands with someone at the skating rink during the slow skates with the lights down but our ‘relationships’ were only talking on the phone on the weekends.
What a horrible world this is now.
When I was in 5th grade, circa 1960, I had a crush on a girl in my class and would carry her books while walking her home after school. She was so pretty that I would blush if she looked at me.
