The Top 10:

Franklin Barbecue (Austin, Texas)

Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ (Charleston, South Carolina)

Southern Soul Barbeque (Simons Island, Georgia)

Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Q (Kansas City, Kansas)

Barb's B Q (Lockhart, Texas)

Pappy's Smokehouse (St. Louis)

Big Bob Gibson (Decatur, Alabama)

Cozy Corner (Memphis)

Louie Mueller Barbecue (Taylor, Texas)

Lexington Barbecue (Lexington, North Carolina)

While not a bad list, it seems like a generic listing of other food reviewers.

Your thoughts?

Yeah, seems like it. Even from a Northerner like myself.

I have been to three of those and can attest that they were all great. Specifically, I’ve been to Joe’s, Southern Soul, and Cozy Corner. Kind of surprised at Cozy Corner’s inclusion because I did not think it was actually as widely renowned as the others on that list…

I’ve been to Franklins, Barb B and Joes BBQ joints. Franklin has the best brisket hands down. I like Joes and I think there are other BBQ joints in Lockhart that are better. I haven’t found good BBQ in Myrtle Beach yet.

“Franklin Barbecue (Austin, Texas)
Louie Mueller Barbecue (Taylor, Texas)”

These are the only two that interest me. I would go to both if someone gave me a 2-3thousand dollars that had to be spent on a BBQ road trip. They are 1200+ miles from me and not worth spending my own money going there. Where I live I can get BBQ that is 80% as good as the best in Texas, and that 80% is good enough for me.
