I was lucky enough to see a fireball fly across the sky once. Went outside for a smoke, and just happened to look up at the right time to see it. Pretty cool sight.
The one I saw was during the Barak reign of terror, but here is a recent one to show what it looked like- only the one I saw was at night and lit the sky up as it passed.
My funny story. At night on the freeway, suddenly the area got lighter. A blazing bright orb was overhead and everyone slowed down and practically stopped to get a better look overhead. It seemed to break up or give off smaller bright orbs in a straight row. I had the feeling everyone was thinking alike and all watching-—one of those mystical times when you feel what others are thinking.
Then it went dark.
I am convinced it was a bolloid or similar. Straight line movement.
I could never tell a UFO place my report, or anyone else.
Q: Where were you heading?
A: The regional science fiction convention at the airport hotel.
Q: Oh, I see.
In the morning I looked for the printed newspapers to say “bolloid streaks across, seen by hundreds.”
No. Both reported UFOs were seen in several areas. Not acting like mine in a straight line, either.
Weird.
I was with some friends stargazing, in the late 80s. We were at a local forest preserve and had just finished setting up our telescopes, when a fireball lit up the sky like daytime in an eerie green glow for about 5 seconds. Haven’t seen anything like that since.
